Ben Swann Discusses North Korea, Gun Control, Next Moves on Alex Jones, Friday 4-12-13 [Audio]

Ben Swann's segment starts at 53 mins into Alex's show on the embedded YouTube video below. There are no big revelations about Swann's plans, but he does reveal that he does have some offers (I'd love to know from whom), might take those offers, might go independent, or might do a combination of these two, remaining independent, but working with some of the outlets that are courting him presently. Defining quote from the interview: "I believe the majority of Americans who don't know what the liberty movement is or the liberty message is, if you articulate it to them, they'll say, 'Yeah, that's me.'" -Ben Swann Fist bump: Daily Paul

The Neuroscience Happening In a Baby's Brain Is Essential to Their Future

Such an interesting interview on Stefan Molyneux's Freedomain Radio with Dr. Stuart Shanker. Key takeaways: Babies are born with all their neurons, but few connections. The stimuli they experience helps grow the connections and wire the circuitry of their brain. Their interaction with their parents is crucially important in helping them to grow well-ordered circuitry so they develop into successful children and adults. Specifically, soothing behavior from the parents helps teach them to grow connections that allow them to "self-soothe" and properly deal with stress and pain as they become more independent. Arousal and aversion are two reactions babies have to stimuli. Arousal is a response to stimulating factors and helps them develop curiosity and engagement with their environment. Aversion is a response to painful over-stimulation. Both of these reactions require a liberal amount of nurturing interaction with the parent to grow the baby's brain circuitry

An interview with Tisha Casida, an Independent candidate for the U.S. House

After she tried to put on a farmer’s market in her hometown of Pueblo, Colorado, Tisha Casida discovered that she had a different set of rules, regulations, licenses, and fees than the city-run farmer’s market. When she contacted her city council, county commissioners, and the city manager about the business and growth-strangling discrepancies and didn’t even get a single reply, Casida had had enough. Now Tisha Casida is running as an Independent for the U.S. House of Representatives and I recently had the opportunity to talk with her on the phone about it. During our brief interview, I was absolutely captivated by the depth of her enthusiasm, her principled positions, her common sense policy prescriptions, and her eloquence in articulating and defending them. Here’s what Tisha Casida had to say: Read my interview at The Independent Voter Network . Wes Messamore , Editor in Chief, T H L Articles | Author's Page

Interview with Tisha Casida

I recently conducted an absolutely awesome interview with Tisha Casida , who is running as an Independent for the U.S. Congress in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District. Just wanted to let you know in advance that I'll be publishing it this coming week at The Independent Voter Network, and that Tisha and I are likely to record an audio interview sometime in the next few weeks because her speaking ability is powerful beyond the capacity of the printed word to relate. Keep your eye out at the Humble Libertarian next week for a link to this excellent interview. Wes Messamore , Editor in Chief, T H L Articles | Author's Page

More from the press conference with Gary Johnson: Talks monetary policy, says ending the Fed would only be a good start

I've already reported on my question to Gary Johnson during this Wednesday's press conference, but most of what he had to say centered on monetary policy: This Wednesday, Gary Johnson lead into his press conference with monetary policy and made it the focus of his talk. He had the opportunity to elaborate further on his views toward the Federal Reserve as he answered follow up questions. Here’s what he said... Read what Gary Johnson said at The Silver Underground . (I was surprised by what he said about Ending the Fed.) Wes Messamore , Editor in Chief, T H L Articles | Author's Page

Why Not Ask Ron Paul to Run for Senate in Texas?

Yesterday I asked Governor Gary Johnson if he'd be willing to withdraw from the presidential election and run for U.S. Senate in New Mexico in 2012 if Ron Paul's supporters came together and pledged a total of one million dollars to kick his Senate campaign off with a million dollar money bomb. The former New Mexico governor very graciously answered that he would not. When I linked to the article about this exchange on my Facebook, Aaron Biterman, one of Gary Johnson's supporters (who actually wrote the case for Gary Johnson in a post I put together earlier this year giving one Johnson supporter and one Paul supporter the chance to lay out their respective cases, which are published all in one place here ), asked me this: Why don't you ask Ron Paul to run for U.S. Senate in Texas? I'm publishing my answer here so you can all hear my reasoning. To begin with, I am a HUGE fan of Gary Johnson's. I was talking about him at HumbleLibertarian.com before most l

What I asked Gary Johnson today

On a telephone press conference for bloggers today I had the opportunity to talk with one of my favorite politicians in America, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. Every time I've interviewed or spoken with Gary I've found his entire approach and personality to be one of the few refreshing things one can experience in dealing with politics these days. Here's what I asked him: "Governor it is always refreshing to hear you speak; I only wish the media would let you speak a little more often! I know you and Congressman Ron Paul hold each other's principles and records in high esteem, so it's a shame that as the media mistreats you, perhaps even worse than they did to Ron Paul in 2008, many of his supporters who admire you have not come to your defense because they are focused on Ron Paul's campaign and it's sucking the oxygen out of your presidential bid. My question is this: If Ron Paul's supporters came together and guaranteed a pledge o

My Full Interview With 2012 Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein

Green Party presidential candidate, Dr. Jill Stein, recently announced her bid for the White House in 2012, drawing attention to her outside-the-beltway views, equal and consistent criticism of both major political parties, and her "Green New Deal" plan to boost the economy and create jobs while taking action to protect the environment. I had a chance to speak with her by phone this weekend and was greeted by a voice that emanated intelligence, enthusiasm, and compassion. Though she's a Green Party candidate, over the course of our brief interview, I wanted to learn what Jill Stein might have in common with Tea Party supporters and Ron Paul Republicans. Her scathing critique of corruption and tyranny in government-- especially the machinations of the banking sector-- seem like they would resonate with many libertarian-minded individuals. It might not be a stretch to describe Jill Stein by the portmanteau "liberaltarian." Here's Jill Stein in her own words

Wes Messamore Interviews Doug Wead

Last month, I was excited to report that presidential historian and former Bush official, Doug Wead had jumped the establishment's ship to join Ron Paul 2012. This Tuesday, I had the incredible privilege and honor of interviewing Doug Wead for a half hour during the Ron Paul money bomb radio marathon. Listen to this man's words and you will be amazed. He is the real deal and we are lucky to have his help. Oh and PS: To those commentators on some other websites poo pooing my story last month because I didn't reveal my source (which is pretty standard in journalism from what I understand), you can check Ron Paul's second quarter financial disclosures to the FEC and you will find that my report was in fact correct. Not only is Doug Wead's consulting firm listed in the list of Disbursements by Payee , but Doug Wead also is himself. The man's working for the Paul campaign :) Wes Messamore , Editor in Chief, T H L Articles | Author's Page

23 Months in Prison for Trading Silver: An Interview with Kevin Innes of Liberty Dollar

"The only place for a moral man in immoral times is jail." At a recent event in New Hampshire, Meg Duffield, Marketing Manager at the Silver Circle Movie , sat down to interview Kevin Innes, who was shamefully arrested by the Washington regime for his involvement with the Liberty Dollar, an alternative currency based on metal commodities like silver, copper, and gold. Audio: Wes Messamore / Ron Paul Interview on June 5th during the Ron Paul Moneybomb Radio Marathon (Over $1M raised!)

Here it is: the embedded audio recording of my half hour interview with Congressman and 2012 Presidential Candidate Ron Paul. I asked some tough questions about the direction of Dr. Paul's campaign and got some surprising and encouraging answers. Listen in to hear Ron Paul's take on his campaign's message control and marketing to likely primary voters, what he learned from his son's successful U.S. Senate campaign in Kentucky, whether he ever gets frustrated with the unfair questions he gets and the relative softball questions his opponents get, what his very worst vice is, and how he plans to make revolutionary changes as president without overstepping the boundaries of executive authority: Hat tip to Kurt Wallace at LibertyPulse . Tea Party Nation founder: TSA scanners and body searches are abusive, appalling, unconstitutional

In an exclusive interview with Judson Phillips, the founder of Tea Party Nation, which hosted the first National Tea Party convention in Nashville, I learned that the Tea Party movement is outraged at the TSA's "nude" body scanners and search procedures. For a political movement that is often criticized as a cynical, right-wing ploy to lower taxes for the rich (or something like that), this key player in the Tea Party movement sounds refreshingly bold in his affirmation of civil liberties, putting Tea Party ideology right in line with the ACLUs and Michael Moores of the world when it comes to defending the civil liberties in the U.S. Constitution, except that it seems like Tea Party activists and sympathizers have actually been the most vocal critics of the TSA lately. If Phillips' views are truly representative of the vast swath of activists and voters who identify themselves as Tea Party supporters, that's a great sign for the Tea Party. It means their belie

Words of Wisdom from Penn Jillette: Mistrust of Government is a "Beautiful" Thing

Here are some excellent words of wisdom from a recent interview with Penn Jillette, the magician, performer, comedian, and outspoken advocate for libertarian ideas. Penn is taking libertarianism mainstream with an approach that is at once reasoned and compassionate- and very entertaining : "I believe that our country, uniquely for the time, was founded on mistrust for the government, which is such a heady and beautiful idea." "And I think that it was so weird to see all the people who said that dissent was part of their job during the Bush Administration turn around and say that we were all supposed to rally behind Obama. I mean, I disagreed with Bush and Obama tremendously... and on the exact same issues." "I think the biggest misconception that I find about libertarians is that there's a lack of compassion and I think that there is as much compassion on libertarians as there is among liberals. It's not what the problems are, it's how to solve the

An interview with Wayne Allyn Root

Via the Independent Political Report: 2006-2008 Libertarian National Committee Vice Chair Chuck Moulton recently posed 10 questions for LNC Chair candidate (and 2008 LP Vice Presidential nominee) Wayne Root. Root today gave his answers, below. (Moulton later posted an admission that if he had known his questions would turn into IPR articles, he would have phrased the last question more diplomatically .) These questions were earlier answered by Chair candidate George Phillies here . Root answered an earlier set of 10 questions for him here . Chair candidate Ernest Hancock says he will be answering these 10 questions for him in a DVD mailed to delegates for the May 28-31 LP convention. More IPR coverage of the LNC Chair race is here .
