"Jesus Was Against Guns"

By: Wes Messamore The Humble Libertarian

Cody Wilson's Back and 3D Printed Guns Just Guaranteed You The Second Amendment Forever

How's that national conversation going? "We see liberty under threat. We see sovereignty under threat. We must respond." -Cody Wilson "I don't believe in Romney versus Obama. I believe in real politics. That's a real political act, giving you a magazine, telling you that it will never be taken away... That's radical equality. That's what I believe in... I'm just resisting. What am I resisting? I don't know... But I can tell you one thing: this is a symbol of irreversibility. They can never eradicate the gun from the earth." -Cody Wilson Cody Wilson is the University of Texas law student who invented the world's first 3D printed firearm , the Liberator , in 2013, and a 3D printed AR-15 lower receiver (capable of firing over 650 rounds), plus a number of magazines (including one for the AK-47)– and made the CAD files to 3D print them available for free to anyone with uncensored Internet on the website, DefCad.org . 3d Pr...

A Libertarian Solution to School Shootings: Legalize Mortal Combat

If you really care about saving children's lives then after reading this short explanation you'll support this policy proposal. If you don't support legalizing mortal combat in the United States after reading this, you obviously don't care about children dying and their blood will be on your hands. Is that a little extreme? Naaaah. It's not extreme enough... You probably even relish in the thought of children dying if you don't support this policy proposal, you filthy-souled sith-spawn of hell from whence you came, you reactionary obstructionist piece of human trash. That's more like it. No. I'm just kidding. Feel free to criticize this idea or help me develop it, but I think I might be on to something that could strangely make the world a nicer and more barbaric place at the same time, but where everyone wins. Here's the idea: The U.S. should legalize mortal combat. There should be a government operated mortal combat league, l...

Do We Even Know What We're Doing?

I think our society and media has commoditized and abused the hell out of these high school shooting victims it has wittingly participated in turning into political celebrities after they’ve been through something like this. It’s not about helping them exercise their free speech you marauding wolves; it’s about exploiting them and our shock, pity, and morbid curiosity, along with the thick complex of our political(ized) pathologies to get the most page views and highest ratings and every ad dollar possible, and ironically, all the money this is making the gun industry in free advertising and catalyzing the emotions and fears of gun and ammo buyers. It’s just all around- a giant word-that-starts-with-cluster of utterly petty and decadent motivations, the worst sins of our society, writ large these few weeks- uncontrollably, uncontrolled by the best within us. I bet when they’re grown up many of these kids will not hate all the grown ups in America today for the unthinkable traged...

Less Guns, More Butter Please

How committed are liberals really to ending gun violence? And do they really have the will for an exhausting spiritual and political fight to accomplish that? If the answers are "Very!" and "Yes!" then... I. How much should we cut the Dept of Defense's budget? 😋 I'm a libertarian I like budget cuts. 50 percent? I think 50 percent is what we should cut. They're the most gun violence people in the world! Using Trump's method of asking for too much so you can negotiate down to a better deal... Which is not necessary for most normal reasonable people, so it's mostly just super obnoxious and time-wasting.... 75 percent. 😛 II. We'll still be like five times the next biggest military! lol And nobody's going to come over an ocean and conquer one of the best things they've got going for them– That America is here and alive and free, baby! 🌾🌾🌾 The only reason they have as much military as they d...

"We must do something!"

It's not a good way to organize a society: comparing the one we have to a hypothetical perfect one in which nothing terrible ever happens. Life has always been a tragedy for everyone who's ever lived. Because there's so much pain. And sooner or later it always ends in death. But this is an amazing life most of us are living in America and even most of the world in the 21st Century! We've created an amazingly very stable, very healthy, very clean, very comfortable, and very safe society. I am all for progress to continue through our spontaneous cooperation to keep making things better every way we can, starting with our selves, and the wonderfully vast sea of good will and benevolence that most people have for others. I am opposed in principle to attempts at progress made via radical political changes to how our society is constituted, using one of the most blunt force trauma instruments in the history of the world: the United States federal government. Th...

Bill Maher Just Made An Airtight Liberal Case Against Gun Control

Bill Maher makes an excellent case against gun control. Of course that's not what he meant to do, but he unwittingly makes the point very well: "If it was a Muslim it’d be about the ban. If it was a Mexican it’d be about the wall. And I feel like, when it’s a white guy it’s like, ‘We don’t know how this happened.’ I feel like it doesn’t get to be an isolated incident if you’re a minority. It’s always — this guy was from a broken home, his father was a criminal. That would be a big deal on Fox News, I feel like." Right. And liberals oppose the ban! And liberals oppose the wall! So liberals should oppose gun control in the same way and for the same reasons. Not all Muslims are terrorists, and not all terrorists are Muslims. So the ban just unfairly harasses an entire category of people for isolated incidents. Not all Mexican immigrants are rapists, Mr. President, and not all rapists are Mexican immigrants. So a wall just unfairly harasses an entire category of ...

Catch-22: Not Another Libertarian Argument Against Gun Control

That's some catch, that Catch-22," he observed. "It's the best there is," Doc Daneeka agreed. -Joseph Heller, Catch-22 Every time someone carries out a terrorist attack in America using a gun, these shameless political opportunists and their fake-lamenting, virtue-signaling public of political fetishists brazenly climb onto the pile of dead bodies to start harassing other Americans who peacefully own guns and calling for the curtailment of gun ownership in this country. There is nothing at all like a comparable reaction to the constant carnage on America's highways, with thirty and forty thousand people dying every year in automobile accidents: a 9-11 terrorist attack worth of human lives lost every month. We fundamentally reordered our society and planet over 9-11, but can't be bothered to stop the automobile deaths. We've just written those people off as the cost of doing business. Because the lives lost in a terrorist attack like Las V...

Gun Technology Is Inherently Liberal, Because It Empowers The Disempowered

Credit: Kitty Hell The existence and availability of gun technology is a great equalizer for the physically weaker and more vulnerable among us. Take for instance, this 15-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister , who were home alone one Tuesday afternoon in 2010 when two strangers tried to break into their house. Without gun technology, these two children would have certainly been in worse danger. Gun technology confers physical parity upon those who are physically disempowered against stronger bullies or intra-species predators, because they have smaller or weaker bodies. Two thundering, violent, adult, male brutes breaking into a house don't need gun technology to overpower and abuse or even kill two children. But without gun technology, the children would likely never be able to overpower and neutralize these predatory adults' physical advantage. The quality of the technology is relevant to its effectiveness and the best interests and best practices of million...

Cody Wilson Shows All Libertarians How to Properly Interact With The Media

One can imagine Cody-- a UT Law student-- conducting a cross examination as effortlessly and effectively as he faces one here... 1:08 - Cody Wilson explains that what he's really doing here is law. He's concerned about the legal precedent his next interactions with the Washington regime might set. 1:28 - Oops. Used a technical word that a lot of your viewers might not know the meaning of. Forces you to speak up and ask me to explain what it means. Establish that I'm an expert on this subject and that you as the media and as the audience are consulting my expertise. Cue bashful smile: "Sure media. I'd be glad to explain what a CAD file is..." {gives a very concise, clear, articulate explanation of what a CAD file is} "Computer Aided Design files-- pieces of software that might in some sense represent material objects, but at the same time, are really just pieces of information or technical data." 1:40 - {seamless transition back into his ori...

Cody Wilson: I'm Looking Forward to Jail. It'll Give Me Time to Catch Up On My Reading

Writes Nick of his recent interview with Cody Wilson at TheTruthAboutGuns.com : 'The first thing we wanted to know is if he’s worried about a possible stretch as a guest of the the federal government in one of their high security greybar hotels. Cody’s response: “I’m looking forward to it. It’ll give me time to catch up on my reading.” As far as he’s concerned, the government might get him on any number of technicalities. Cody started listing the ways that Uncle Sam could justify putting him away, almost as if they were badges of honor — thumbing his nose at their attempts to control the proliferation of firearms. It fits well with the “crypto-anarchist” persona that he’s developed as his efforts with 3D printing have progressed. Robert was concerned that Cody didn’t have a lawyer already on speed dial in the event of his arrest. We started spit-balling lawyers that might be interested in taking his case, and Cody wasn’t too impressed with any of them. Alan Gottleib was de...

Reason TV Video: Gun Fiction vs Gun Facts

On April 25 in Washington, D.C., supporters of gun control held a "Stop the NRA Rally and March." Designed to counter what organizers feel is the outsized influence of the National Rifle Association and other pro-Second Amendment groups, the march was widely recognized as a bust, with a stunningly low turnout. But it wasn't just a disappointment in terms of sheer numbers. The protesters who did show up had an amazingly weak grasp of basic trends related to the number of mass shootings, the effectiveness of assault-weapon bans, and the use of firearms in violent crime. Reason TV's Amanda Winkler and Joshua Swain attended the rally. Here's what they found. You're being governed by the uninformed anxieties of people who still watch television (and actually think it's real life). #democracy Hopefully they will all take the time to read the Justice Department's newest report outlining the dramatic drop in gun violence over the last two decades: h...

The Democrats' Plan To Get Gun Control Through The Senate

Great work at BuzzFeed. After a quick look at the above, you might be interested in the following audio lecture on the Fascists and Fabians from the Mises Institute's excellent Robert LeFebre commentaries . The maneuvering described in the BuzzFeed piece is a classic Fabian "incrementalist socialism" tactic. They've been doing it to us for decades. We're fool enough to let them.

Rand Paul Goes Full Auto [Video]

Senator Rand Paul knows real gun control means hitting your target:

Too long; didn't read it

Come on, Congress. You got to read the bills. Headline from National Review : "Lee: ‘Not a Single Senator Has Been Provided the Legislative Text’ of Gun-Control Bill" These become laws that affect our lives. You do know that, right? I mean I know you're above the law and everything, so it's hard to imagine, but we little munchkin people in Central Time can go to jail for not complying with all this stuff, so could you take a moment and know what you're voting on when you vote on it? Remember practically two days ago when some of you were embarrassed that you passed the "Monsanto Protection Act" because you didn't know it was in there? Can some renegade libertarian staffer in the Capitol please start waging guerrilla warfare on these clowns and insert language into every bill abolishing the TSA, repealing The Patriot Act, ending foreign aid to Pakistan, and putting ObamaCare out of our misery? No, seriously.
