Couple Reveals Child's Gender Five Years Too Late

Oh boy A story that defies understanding until you realize... how old the parents are. It's a boy! And he's five. Beck Laxton, 46, and partner Kieran Cooper, 44, have spent half the decade concealing the gender of their son, Sasha. "I wanted to avoid all that stereotyping," Laxton said. I'm confused. Is being stereotyped as a boy worse than being stereotyped as a court jester with an extra chromosome? "Wha--! That is so offensive!" Agreed. So why did she do it? "Stereotypes seem fundamentally stupid. Why would you want to slot people into boxes?" On a hunch I checked out her blog to see how opposed she was to slotting people into boxes: I may be wrong, but this appears to be a woman whose whole life is boxes. The premise for this unstory is that the parents wanted to prevent any gender stereotyping, so hid the child's gender from everyone to let him [sic] grow unstereotyped. The problem is that the parents already know...

Journey Into The Underworld: A Good Friday Vision

Thoughts on The Flood

What does not kill you makes you stronger. A flood is a baptism. What's a baptism? It's a death and a rebirth. You go down into the water. And rise up out of it again. Whatever you leave in the water drowns. Whatever comes out of the water is born again. When you wake up in the middle of the night and your house is flooding, you have to decide what you're going to save, under pressure, in a very short amount of time, while you and your family are in danger. Like Noah, you get your kids and your animals together and figure out how to get them out of there alive. As you watch water pouring into your house and covering your floor, you get hit hard with a powerful, instant, and totalizing sense of what's important and what isn't. You can't hang on to very much while trying to escape a flood in a hurry, so you have to let go of almost everything. So the flood washes everything away, except what is most important. Because I have taken ...

Tired of Endless War? There's Only ONE Solution, and I Would Have Never Guessed

This free audiobook, The Origins of War in Child Abuse -- written by Lloyd Demause and read aloud by libertarianism's greatest living orator, Stefan Molyneux-- is a uniquely incisive work of historical scholarship that examines how human history was experienced by children, and why their experiences have created a society prone to the self-destructive frenzy of war. If you are anti-war, this book delves into the root causes of war in a way that no other has, and reveals so many interesting facts about the lead up to specific wars it will make your head spin. Demause makes a compelling case that war is not primarily an economic nor political phenomenon, but a psychological one. Demause's investigation into the history of war concludes that each war is an episode of mass hysteria centered on self-destruction and human sacrifice, and that the psychological motivations for war can only make sense to a society of people who were abused as children. If this is true, the one...

The Inner and Outer Worlds

Libertarianism as I have experienced it focuses 99% or more of its attention on the outer world . Peruse just about any of the most popular libertarian websites and you'll find discussions about politics, economics, culture, and history. You'll find very little about psychology. It's a curious, maybe even suspicious gap in libertarian thought. For a political philosophy that characterizes itself as the champion of the individual, there doesn't seem to be very much reflection on the individual and the inner world of individual human beings, which are considered by libertarians to be fundamental and prior to society. Most popular libertarianism focuses on issues that can be formulated as the following stock headlines: Congress Passes Another Bill That Limits Your Liberty The President Issues Another Edict That Limits Your Liberty How This [State, Congressman, or Activist] Is Working to Stop [Government Agency] From Limiting Your Liberty But if the freedom o...

Under The Law

Under the Law and feeling stuck? Then punish your innocent son. Be more like God and pass the buck, Just punish your innocent son. Creators creating creative creations have no obligations but one: Don't spit on the tablets and bury the nations, Just punish your innocent son. And behold all the good that it's done.....

I can't even believe this is legal.

The Facts About George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin: A Libertarian Perspective

An important video to watch: The Truth About George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin

Video: The Facts About Spanking, by Stefan Molyneux

The shocking science about the long-term effects of corporal punishment, essential viewing for every parent! As you watch, remember that the statistical harm that spanking causes children as outlined in this video presentation apply to the kind of spanking that many in our society do not consider problematic: defined as an open-handed striking of a child's butt or extremities that is intended not to cause any physical injury. So this isn't about people beating their kids and leaving welts. Even pretty light-handed spanking is an extremely risky parenting practice. I'll let the facts speak for themselves: For further investigation, here is the source material used for the presentation above: http://board.freedomainradio.com/forums/t/32072.aspx
