Net Neutrality Today. SOPA, PIPA, CISPA, ACTA, and PCIP Tomorrow!

Let's start off with an easy question: Whose Internet would all of the cool, hip, California-smug, Obama-liberal/libertarian-lite, techno-pundits say is more "neutral?" America's or China's? A: China's right? The Great Firewall of China You see, there's nothing neutral about an Internet on the leash of state regulations. Which is why "Net Neutrality" is as Orwellian a name for it as the Patriot Act is for that piece of unpatriotic trash. Once you put on the leash, just so long as Washington is tugging it in the direction of your pet issue ( this time , you fool)... It doesn't matter if you give yourself a mile of leash. It will keep getting shorter until the state is yanking you around by the neck. Net Neutrality activism is for people with short eyes and long ears. Sounds great to people who can't see past next week. And people with short memories too. Because when oh when will we ever learn that Washington...

Jeffrey Tucker Talks Bitcoin and DIY Libertarianism with ReasonTV

"We're talking about reinventing the world's monetary system... from the ground up," says Jeffrey Tucker, executive editor of Laissez Faire Books , and an enthusiastic proponent of the open source peer-to-peer currency system Bitcoin. After participating in a panel discussion on Bitcoin at Freedom Fest, Tucker sat down with Reason Magazine's Matt Welch to explain why he believes Bitcoin is an example of a new enterprise that can help create "a new world of liberty, despite the existence of the leviathan state." Held each July in Las Vegas, Freedom Fest is attended by around 2,000 limited-government enthusiasts and libertarians. ReasonTV spoke with over two dozen speakers and attendees and will be releasing interviews over the coming weeks. About 5.30 minutes. Produced by Anthony L. Fisher. Camera by Paul Detrick and Tracy Oppenheimer.

Ron Paul Channel Paywall Draws Criticism

Two Freedom Feens talk radio hosts argue that " Ron Paul's Pay Wall Makes Him A Dinosaur Thrashing In The Tar Pits ." An excerpt: "He's trying to make it look like Fox News... And it's like-- it doesn't really work... What I think would be better is just him in his office, in his cozy home. I don't want Ron Paul trying to look like a talking head. I want Ron Paul being Ron Paul." "Although there is something to be said like Ben Swann said when we interviewed him, that there are visual cues; there are these subconscious things that make people think, 'Oh, this is news,' but I don't really know if Ron Paul's audience in general falls for that, and if the idea is not to preach to the choir, the people that already love him who are going to be the ones paying ten dollars a month to see this, but it's to spread the message, then why are you having people pay ten dollars to see this, right? If the idea is to spread the word...

CISPA Sandpeople (Meme)

CISPA Lobbyists are easily startled, but they'll soon be back, and in greater numbers.

Top 100 List of Libertarian Blogs and Websites Massively Updated (Forty-Four Websites Leaving / Joining The List!)

This is by far, the most massive update of the Top 100 Libertarian Blogs and Websites list here at The Humble Libertarian. A Robust Top 100 List I can't decided if I'm more embarrassed that the list was in such disrepair that it required such a massive overhaul, or more excited that the list is now so incredibly robust --better than ever before. I'm probably most excited that the libertarian presence on the World Wide Web is now stronger than it has ever been. When I first made this list in 2009, I extensively researched what was out there, and I'm telling you, there are so many new blogs and websites, so many fantastic resources. We've come a long way in four years. How did I find room for forty-four new libertarian blogs and websites? I removed any blogs or websites that were no longer updating. There were a few of these. Sorry. I won't let this list get that dated again. I also removed several entries that allowed an organization to "double...

Jeff Berwick Cut Off By CBC Radio Host When He Starts Discussing The True Nature of Fiat Money

This is classic. Jeff Berwick, of the Dollar Vigilante , is cut off by a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio host when he starts revealing the true nature of fiat currency to the show's listeners. The show is also a good look at how the mainstream media and its audiences are perceiving and grappling with alternative crypto-currencies like Bitcoin. NB: they don't understand it and find it really scary. Boo! Listen here .
