It appears that when listing one of President Obama's gaffes in using England to denote the U.K. (as part of my list of 100 ways Obama is just like Bush, which included a few gaffes for fun), I made a little mistake myself by saying Ireland would be offended.
A commentator from Ireland (aptly named Sean) pointed out that not all of Ireland would be offended, just Northern Ireland. So to make sure that we're all straight about our geography and politics and you never make the mistakes that Obama or I made, the above Venn Diagram explains it all rather elegantly.
Now you know, and can look intelligent correcting someone at a dinner party, especially if you do it with an English accent and you've been talking with one all night just because.
