The government is using $662 million from the 2009 "Stimulus Bill" to create "Regional Extension Centers" or RECs. These organizations are mandated to help 100,000 health care providers implement electronic health records in 24 months. There are fundamental flaws with this program and taxpayers dollars are at stake.
