The Humble Libertarian original

Lately it's been hard for me to know what to write about. But I think I know where to begin to solve this problem. And that is to learn and think about information from sources that are not so confoundedly incoherent...

The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper names. A special message for those who celebrated Veteran's Day:

I loved you, prison guard. I know you loved me. I had no choice and no escape from the cinder block walls for an eternity of those bright adolescent hours that should have been all mine to have and to hold for better or worse and spend in brilliant bursts of godlike play that could have only made it better. But in that dreary prison place, I felt that I had yet escaped from some even darker, more sickly and sorrowful hole, and that you, my prison guard, were at least some fashion of a mother to me.

Take for instance, this 15-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister , who were home alone one Tuesday afternoon in 2010 when two strangers tried to break into their house. Without gun technology, these two children would have certainly been in worse danger. Gun technology confers physical parity upon those who are physically disempowered against stronger bullies or intra-species predators, because they have smaller or weaker bodies. Two thundering, violent, adult, male brutes breaking into a house don't need gun technology to overpower and abuse or even kill two children. But without gun technology, the children would likely never be able to overpower and neutralize these predatory adults' physical advantage. The quality of the technology is relevant to its effectiveness and the best interests and best practices of million...

"...that Silicon Valley and Washington intelligence people move back and forth professionally and consider themselves to be in the same industry." Great insight from a delightful Reason article about the science fiction prophet, Philip K. Dick. Libertarians will want to do something about this problem. They will need to persuade the public that if you move from Silicon Valley to working for the Washington regime, you're not in the information technology industry anymore. Not even close. You're in the organized crime industry.
